¾ cup yellow split chana dal
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon urad dal
10-12 curry leaves/patta
Pinch of asafoetida/hing
½ teaspoon turmeric/huldi powder
½ teaspoon red chilli powder
2 cups chopped French beans
Salt to taste
½ cup fresh grated coconut
Coriander leaves/kuthmir for garnish
Soak chana dal in water for 3 hours. Drain and keep aside.
- Heat oil. Sauté urad dal followed by curry patta, hing, huldi and chilli powders.
- Add French beans and then chana dal. Also add about ¼ cup water and salt. Cover pan and let simmer till done.
- Stir in coconut on a high flame.
Garnish with chopped coriander.
